Queen of Hearts Costume - Simplicity #2834
This was such a fun costume to make for Halloween my 7 year old girl! I found the pattern for Simplicity #2834 on Ebay because it is now a discontinued pattern.
I found all of the fabric I needed at JoAnn's. After making up the dress and having her try it on, I thought it could use a little extra fluff, so I ordered a petticoat from Amazon to have her wear underneath the dress.
I bought two pairs of tights, one red and one black, and cut them down the back seam. Then I put them back together using a black leg for one and red leg for the other, I just serged them back together following my cut line.
For the crown, I found a gold glittery foam sheet, and cut it into a crown shape. I added a foam circle to the bottom and cut a slit into it to slide the headband through. Then I added some red glittery foam stickers to the crown.
I knew we wanted a flamingo croquet element, and the closest thing I could find was a flamingo umbrella from Amazon, but I think it worked out perfectly. :)
For her trick-or-treat bag, I bought a deck of cards and laminated them onto a sheet of paper. I then put eyelets along the sides and bottoms of all the sides and tied the pieces together using ribbon.
To finalize the look, we put some red lipstick on in the shape of a heart, added a little blush and heart on her cheek and called it good!
She was thrilled with the final outcome!
