Free Christmas Embroidery Pattern

I have been on a real embroidery kick lately. I love sewing, and it's my #1 hobby for sure, but sewing isn't really mobile.

As a creative person that needs to keep her creative hands busy, my new found love of embroidery has been the perfect fit for me. It's such a mobile hobby! It can come with me in front of the tv, on a plane, in the car, or wherever my little heart desires. ;)

I recently signed up for a year subscription to MyBluprint.com, where I have been cranking through the online lessons like crazy! This move was a no-brainer for me, because I had already bought classes from Craftsy.com in the past, and knew how much I loved them. And to be able to learn all year at my own speed, just made sense to me.

One of the first classes I took was Start Up Library: Hand Embroidery. I had done a little embroidery in the past, but this class really went into showing different stitches and applications. Another class I liked was Start up Project: Modern Hand Embroidery.

Since then, I've gained a little confidence, and decided to make up my own pattern for Christmas! I thought I'd share it with you here!

If you would like to make one using the same colors I used, the colors are all DMC:

*Dk Green #935 - Used for the V-Shaped Stems using the Stem Stitch, and also used in combination with #3052 for the Leaves using the Fishbone Stitch

*Med Green #3052 - Used for half of the Roses using the Woven Wheel Rose Stitch, and also used for the Leaves using the Fishbone Stitch

*Lt Green #772 - Used for the twig leaves using a Stem Stitch for the Stem, and a Satin Stitch for the leaf

Red #817 - Used for the Berries using the French Knot

Cream #746 - Used for the other half of the Roses, using the Woven Wheel Rose Stitch

White #3865 - Used for the Words. I did the words "o come let us" using a Stem Stitch, and the word "Adore" using a Backstitch, and then filling it in with a Seed Stitch and a Seed Bead on every stitch, and the word "HIM" I used a Satin Stitch

I used a black glittery fat quarter I found at JoAnn for the background fabric, but this would look really nice on plain black too.

These would make great Christmas gifts for mothers, friends, co-workers, etc.
