Vogue #1633 - Sew it Yourself

Awhile back, on my Instagram feed, I posted a Fashion Inspiration Mood Board using the pattern Vogue #v1633 and some wonderful leopard print sweater knit from Hobby Lobby. (Unfortunately, the fabric is no longer in stock, but animal print fabrics are pretty easy to come by these days) I also included some fantastic sock booties and fanny pack from Nordstrom Rack as part of the look. I ended up buying the booties myself, but passed on the fanny pack.

I finally got around to sewing this dress up, and I'm not sure what took me so long! This pattern is fantastic! The fun sleeves and turtleneck totally make this pattern unique.

This pattern is a nice, straightforward sew as well. I really like Vogue patterns for that reason. They are well thought out and have wonderful details. For instance, this pattern has a lined bodice and skirt which helps the dress have more substance.

Let's talk a bit more about the sleeves on this dress. There are pleats both on the cuff and shoulder, creating a voluminous, billowy sleeve which is so fun to wear. The sweater knit lends itself nicely to this pattern. It was very easy to work with and was the perfect weight.

I rarely make a pattern more than once, but I would definitely make this pattern again. You should give this pattern a try, it's perfect for a confident beginner or intermediate seamstress.

This dress would also look great with a belt and some tights! And I really would love to make a white faux leather Fennel Fanny Pack to go with this outfit... I just need to add it to my never-ending list of things I need to sew! :) Thanks for stopping by!
