Butterick 6677 - One of my new favorite patterns

Ok you guys... I love this pattern! It's a fun one, not only to make, but to wear! This pattern is a fairly quick sew and super straightforward and easy.

It's a basic bodice, with a bias tape finish on the neck and armholes and a button closure in the back. A flounce is then added to the bodice, followed by pockets on the skirt portion and a ruffled hem piece. It also has an elasticized waist, which is nice and comfy.

I had a fun orange bias tape in my stash, so I used it on the neckline and allowed a little bit of it to show. I like the little pop of color it adds.

This pattern is perfect for those lightweight, flowy fabrics you have laying around. I used a beautiful coral and white crepe de chine fabric I found at Fabric Mart, but unfortunately they are sold out now.

Because this fabric is lightweight, and semi-sheer, I ended up doing french seams for all of the seams. I am really coming to appreciate french seams, and I think the extra time it takes to do them, is totally worth it. I like when the inside of the garment looks as good as the outside.

This dress is so comfy and easy to wear. It can easily be dressed up for church or dressed down for a beach vacation, or a shopping weekend with the gals. It's a super versatile piece and I'm thinking of other fabric possibilities to make this pattern again!
