Pattern Review for the Zinnia Skirt by Colette Patterns

Pattern Review for Colette Zinnia Skirt (3).jpg

When I saw this lovely, flowy fabric in the seasonal fabric at Hobby Lobby, in the most perfect rusty-peachy-mauvey color (is that a thing?), I knew I needed to make a Zinnia Skirt out of it. I had been meaning to sew this pattern up for awhile, and I knew when I finally got around to sewing it up, I wanted it to be in a very fluid, lightweight fabric with a lot of movement.

This fabric definitely fit the bill. As you can see, we were taking these pictures right before a massive wind storm hit, and the skirt is bustling away in the wind.

The buttons I chose added some weight to the skirt, which I think actually works pretty well to keep the button placket in place. and to keep in the skirt in line.

I opted not to add the pockets just because the fabric I chose made it tricky to get the pockets just right. I tried, but it wasn't happening. I love the look of the pockets though, so when I make this again in a different fabric weight, I will definitely add pockets.

Overall, I thought this pattern was very well done. Simple, easy to follow instructions, lots of pictures and quick and easy to sew.
